Michael Mullen

Mike Mullen has been with the Mayo Clinic since January, 1982. In May 1999 Mike assumed his current assignment of developing and managing the new Recruitment Strategies section of the Mayo Department of Human Resources. In this role he is responsible for overseeing research, planning and development of strategic recruitment initiatives to support the present and future staffing needs of Mayo.

Mayo Clinic, founded in 1887, is world renounced as a leader in medical practice, education and research. In addition to the original practice in Rochester MN, the Mayo system includes clinics in Jacksonville, FL and Scottsdale, AZ as well as a regional practice network of clinics throughout southern Minnesota, Western Wisconsin and northern Iowa.

Mike graduated from Rochester Mayo High School in 1971. After serving four years in the U.S. Navy he attended Mankato State University, graduating in 1981 with a Medical Technology major. After graduation Mike was a laboratory technologist at Mayo before accepting a position with the Transplant Surgery department in 1985 as a member of the organ procurement staff. In this role he was a member of a team responsible for managing all technical and administrative facets of the organ procurement program.

In 1990 Mike joined the staff of the Mayo Department of Human Resources and has served in numerous HR assignments since that time. He is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources by the Society for Human Resource Management.

Mike and his wife, Denise, reside in Chatfield, Minnesota. They have four adult children.
